Valery Karpin: Reserve coaches have no complaint to Carioca

After the Austrian training the FCSM head coach gave an interview to Spart-Express.

– What could you say about the time spent in Austria?

– We’ve done everything we planned to do there. We’ll see the results in Rostov July 11 and in the rest of the matches of the championship.

– You have involved some reserve players such as Yakovlev, Grigoryev and Ananidze into the first team. Most specialists agreed you had invited them just to complete the squads for training matches, didn’t you?

– I never said that. No. We’ve called only those players who’ll help the first team further on and who really deserved that.

– I heard positive words about Ananidze’s play who is just 16 years of age. He seems fragile with 60 kilograms and 170 cm of height. How did he feel with the first team with such characteristics?

– Football isn’t only for tall giants. Most important is how effective you’re for the team. Zhano ain’t a giant but he’s very clever in the field. Yakovlev and Grigoryev were rather good too.

– Did you find information on your next rival team?

– Sure. We’ve enough time to get the full information on FC Rostov. The same thing as with the rest teams.

– Rostov have proved very lucky playing from the defense. Do you agree?

– Really, they were very effective on rebounds.

– Do you feel discomfort playing at 9 pm? 

– Not at all. That’s a pretty common thing everywhere, especially in hot weather. Say, in Spain all summer matches start after 19.00 which is logical. Illogical is when you have to play at 2 in the afternoon at 40 degrees positive.

– How’s Alex’s knee?

– It’s okey. He’s gone through the medicals and is in Moscow now.

– Will it be difficult for you without him in Austria?

– We’ll see how he feels now. So we’ve got the whole week ahead.

– When is Maidana going to join the team?

– His loan’s expired on 30 June and he’s still on vacation to join us this Tuesday.

– Could you say he’d stay with the club for the second half of the championship?

– It’s too early to say something about it. It depends on his condition.

– Welliton played only 18 minutes against Maccabi Haifa. How’s he feeling?

– Not bad. He’s been training on par with the first team and didn’t spoil the party.

– How long is Raphael Carioca going to play with the reserves?

– It depends on himself personally. We have the reserves coaches to give the information I need.

– Haven’t you talked to him yet?

– I have. They have no complaint against him.

– What can you say about the possible transfers into the team during this transfer window?

– Still nothing. And changes here for us – we plan to buy 2—4 players with no names now from me, of course.

– What about the future of Kovac, Pletikosa and Prudnikov?

– No news about them either. We’ve got a month to go to make definite decisions.

– Why did the idea of buying de la Pena break?

– Who said we were planning to acquire him? Being in the scope of your interests doesn’t mean being the object of purchase.

– But he isn’t in the sphere of your interests, is he? 

– He makes his own future. I don’t know if he signed papers with Espanol. If he did it means he won’t play with us. If otherwise – anything can happen.

– Your contract expires at the end of this year. Have you discussed it yet? If yes, what position was discussed – coach or director general?

– It wasn’t discussed yet.
